Next Meeting - Tuesday, Nov. 5, on the Mezz at Festival Foods, at 11:30 AM as usual. This is our combined Board/Business Meeting for November, and hopefully we will have another Board quorum, now that the golf season has been permanently buried under 7 inches of snow.

There will be some general business to discuss, including the Mission to The Indigenous Peoples reservation in Dakota. Somewhere LES and LOU HUSEBOE are smiling. There will also be a report on the Highway Cleanup Project, which apparently was carried off successfully, and just in time, by an intrepid crew: MIKE, SCOTT, JOHN, LINDA, David, and ROSS.

The size and composition of our Board of Directors keeps lurking on the Agendas of Board and Business meetings, and it may come up again.

At our last meeting it was announced that our Holiday Party will again be at Angelo's on Monona Drive, on Dec. 10 at 5:00 PM. Usual appetizers, conviviality, and some sort of gift exchange celebrating our Lion birthdays (an MCLC tradition?) and general merriment.

Drinks With Santa is scheduled for LJ's on Dec. 14th, starting at 5:00. Two of our most indefatigable members have again signaled their willingness to don the Santa suit and the Lion suit. Like the job of TailTwister, this is harder than it looks. But “ HO HO HO” and “ROAR” seem to harmonize pretty well. Great opportunity to spread the word on what Lions do, and easier than wearing a white shirt and tie while knocking on doors.

Discussion focused on other seasonal activities, past and present. Time has eaten the Fall raffles and Bags Tournament, as various possibilities failed to materialize, and so we need to give thought to other ways to raise funds and Club visibility.

We have added a new member, STACEY TROJA, CEO LEBW. Formal Induction is pending. The Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin is one of those places where the rubber meets the road as far as Wisconsin Lions are concerned. It is OUR job, and “because of what we do today, others will see tomorrow”.

It was reported at the Region Meeting which some of our members attended that as of June, 2021, Lions International will no longer support separate Lioness organizations or activities. The intent is to finalize the integration of those into Lions Clubs' membership and activities. It has been evident for some time that women-only satellites do not fit in today's society. Somewhere, HENRY TURVILLE is grimacing, but there's an MCLC story that goes with that.

Our Guest Speakers were Jack Heim and Brett Naki. Both were here to say “thank you” for our recent donation ($200) for 4 registration fees (Brett and Chad … and their “helpers”). Adaptive Adventures was started in 1998 by a couple of war veterans, one with both legs gone … and they rock climb. Jack is still doing the 5 mile food pantry run, is on the Dane County Food Pantry board, and is now also on The Alumni Association of Guide Dogs board. Jack (and his guide dog) repelled down a cliff for the first time ever, at Mississippi Palisades, near Galena, IL. Brett has Cerebral Palsy, is in a wheelchair and has been rock climbing since before he was in high school. He uses a pulley system to pull himself up … about 100 feet. They thank you for your generous donation(s). And inspired us to do more.
